  Which upgrade(s) are you referring to. None of them are passive purchase situations. In all cases you must act by following the appropriate guide for the upgrade in question. http://en.support.wordpress.com/upgrades/

  What I want to do is the following: While on safari just shoot video’s with my camera and store them on the harddisk of my laptop. Then start wordpress and upload them into my blog. Do you have any experience with that procedure? Since I am new to Wp I wonder if certain updates can be done ofline or do I always need to be connected to the internet?

  Well, you do need to be connected to the internet to upload the videos.

  I have no experience with VideoPress here – but I have done videos on Vimeo and YouTube and if your connection is slow the upload can take a long long time.
