Hey there!
I took a look at your site, and I am able to view your blog posts here:
http://groovyriders.com/blogs/Were you able to solve your own issue, or do you still need assistance? If you do need help, can you tell me where you’re expecting to see the blog posts?
I am happy to look further into this for you — more details would be most helpful!
Thanks.

Hi
I upgraded to premium wordpress but then got a host – did I need to pay for the upgrade or have I wasted my money? not sure of the difference between the standard and premium in this case?
thanks -
Hey there!
I upgraded to premium wordpress but then got a host – did I need to pay for the upgrade or have I wasted my money?
Well, it all depends what your goal is. If you want to self-host your site on an outside server, then you do not need to have an upgrade to your WordPress.com site.
However, if you want to host your site at WordPress.com, then you do not need an outside host.
To be clear, here is the difference between hosting a site at WordPress.com, and self-hosting a site via WordPress.org:
If you can tell me more about your end-goal, I can help further with answers about that upgrade. Thanks much!

Thanks having read all is I think I done more than I need to – have paid for wordpress.com and I have also paid for a host too (TSO) as I believed that I needed to. I am pretty sure that I have made it more complicated than I need to too.
All I want is a website with its own domain groovyriders.com and an email address. I don’t need any particular functionality above and beyond the basic and I don’t need people to be able to buy things (yet). Please advise if you can? I also bought a theme which is too complicated for me to use!! -
Hi again!
I don’t need any particular functionality above and beyond the basic and I don’t need people to be able to buy things (yet). Please advise if you can? I also bought a theme which is too complicated for me to use!!
Then my advice is to keep your site here at WordPress.com. You already have your domain registered here (groovyriders.com) which means you can create five @groovyriders.com email addresses at no additional cost.
The theme you bought was probably also for self-hosted WordPress.org site since we don’t allow for third-party themes on our servers. We do have 300+ themes you can choose from here. They all have setup documentation…or we can assist if you need a hand.
The nice thing — I’m a bit biased, I’m sure — about WordPress.com is that you have access to support staff. If you self-host, you are on your own. There are tons of ways you can get help via community forums, and such, but you do have more hands-on help from us here if you host at WordPress.com.
My suggestion is to see if you can cancel/refund your hosting for your self-hosted site. Maybe an explanation of what happened — your site is at WordPress.com, you accidentally bought their hosting, thinking you needed it — will get you that refund.
Also, I think you should do the same thing with the 3rd party theme. Just tell them that you bought their theme thinking you could use it at WordPress.com, but you found out you can’t and don’t need it.
Then, we have a setup guide for new users here:
http://learn.wordpress.comOur themes can be viewed here:
https://wordpress.com/themesAnd email setup for your domain can be found here:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/email-forwarding/The one thing we’d need to change when you’re ready: your domain is currently “pointing” to your self-hosted server. If you choose to have a WordPress.com site, we’ll just revert your name servers back to their default settings so they point to your site at WordPress.com.
It does appear as if you have some pages and posts already published on your WordPress.org site. You can either start fresh at WordPress.com (or copy/paste that text here), OR you can export that content from your other server, and upload it here. Here is information about importing content:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/import/I know I’ve thrown lots of information at you, so please do let me know if you have questions and I can give you more details, if you’d like! Cheers :)

Hello
I have now cancelled my host but I cannot log on to my site and I didn’t get a chance to re-direct my name servers to wordpress. When I look at my site I only see my old wordpress.org blog (groovyriders.wordpress.com) and cannot get onto my groovyriders.com site.
I previously made changes when I was hosted by TSO – will that mean I will have to start again on my site?
Thanks -
Hi there!
When I look at my site I only see my old wordpress.org blog (groovyriders.wordpress.com)
Groovyriders.wordpress.com is your WordPress.com site, not WordPress.org. It is hosted here. Whenever you see a site with .wordpress.com in the address, it is hosted with WordPress.com.
I wanted to make sure that you DID want your site hosted here, before we went any further. I got a little turned around by your mention of WordPress.org :)
I do see that your domain isn’t pointing to your WordPress.com site. If you do intend to host your site here, can you confirm this for me? I’m happy to help with your domain’s name servers, if this is your intention. If I make this changed for you, when visitors go to groovyriders.com, they will see the website that your are managing here, on our servers.
Let me know! Looking forward to hearing from you. Thanks very much.

Hello
thanks yes I do want my site to be hosted at wordpress. I have already upgraded to premium that will cover this cost? Well I have paid to have wordpress.com and that is a different site that I have been working on from my original blog groovyriders.worpress.com. I am not sure why I mentioned wordpress.org at all!
Hopefully the work I did on groovyriders.com has not all been lost as I was working on it via a host?
In any case if I have to start again I will need the nameservers pointing to wordpress.com anyway.Hope that is a little clearer?
many thanks

Thanks for the additional info!
There are a few steps we can take:
- You haven’t yet confirmed your ICANN domain registration email. I just resent it to you. You must confirm this registration, or else I cannot change your name servers.
- Once that is done, you can let me know, and I’ll change your name servers so they point to your WordPress.com site.
- Meanwhile, if you’ve been working on a WordPress.org site on another server, before you cancel anything, you should export ALL your content. Then, it can be imported into your WordPress.com site. If you do this, you shouldn’t lose your content, and you won’t have to start from scratch!
Here is export instruction:

Does this sound like a clear plan that helps you reach your goals? Let me know!
