Upgrade

Hello! I started with basic because i didn’t know if I’d know how to set this all up. It seems easy enough so I’m wondering…if I want to upgrade for the sake of security, how do I do that? THe only place I could find bumped the price of upgraded membership to $9/month when it was a special of 5.45 a month before. Also, that is in addition to the money I already paid for my basic membership I think, which means it’s more like $11-$12/month total. Too much!

Also, how do I install a ‘subscribe’ button???

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi there,

When I tried whois your URL oddventures.net It seems you are using the self-hosted software WordPress.org, could you confirm the URL?

    NS1.BLUEHOST.COM
    NS2.BLUEHOST.COM

We know it looks the same, but self-hosted WordPress sites and WordPress.com are two, different entities, but the essential difference is that we don’t have access to all WordPress sites, only ones hosted on our WordPress.com servers. For more information, please see:

    WordPress.com vs. WordPress.org

if I want to upgrade for the sake of security, how do I do that?

I’m sure for all the plans here on WordPress.com are secured, and each plan is divided by what you need. For example, if you need to upload Theme or Plugins, you can upgrade to the Business plan. For more info, please visit https://wordpress.com/pricing/.

Also, how do I install a ‘subscribe’ button???

You can follow these instructions about subscribe button here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/blog-subscription-shortcode/

  • Hi there,

The upgrades for your site which you see here on WordPress.com is for the Jetpack plugin. There are security features in all Jetpack’s plans, even the free plan you currently have, but obviously they become more advanced the higher your plan.

You can see the pricing for the Jetpack plans here:

    https://jetpack.com/pricing/

And you can upgrade from My Site ->Plans.

You might also be referring to upgrading your hosting plan. In that case you’ll need to contact Bluehost directly.

Also, how do I install a ‘subscribe’ button???

The block subscription shortcode mentioned above is specifically to add a subscription form to a post or page’s content, and has largely been made obsolete by the block editor where Jetpack now includes a subscription block you can use instead.

But Jetpack also includes a blog subscription widget you can add to your theme’s widget areas, and you can generate a WordPress.com follow button as well which you can add via a HTML widget, and which makes it easy for anyone with a WordPress.com account to follow your site in the WordPress.com Reader:
