  I need to upgrade to a paid plan but not sure which. Can I connect with someone to explain what I am trying to do and if it is even possible??

  Livechat with staff is available once you’ve purchased a Premium plan or higher. Perhaps you could explain what you’re wanting to achieve with a site here at WordPress.com and a member of staff can advise further.
  Note that there are really only three options for paid plans here. Personal if you want a straightforward site but with a custom domain address. Premium if you want more storage/access to more choice of themes and custom CSS or Business/eCommerce if you wish to sell stuff.
