  If I upgrade my site and pick a custom domain through Wordpres does that come with an SSL certificate or do I need to purchase and install it separately?

  The site I need help with is viamkarlito.wordpress.com.

  Hello there. WordPress automatically instals SSL certificates on all WordPress.com websites.

  And is that still the case if I change the URL from myblog.wordpress.com to mydomain.com?

  Yes. As long as the domain is hosted or mapped at WordPress.com.
