Upgrade?

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hi,

I am considering paying for an annual plan (upgrade). I think Premium would be best for us. I am just mostly concerned that we will lose 5 years of work. I have read a little bit on how to make a backup, but that still scares me. I’m not a very ‘tech savvy’ person and I’m just concerned that I’ll do it wrong.

Can I get any support with this process to make sure I’m doing it correctly?

    Many thanks in advance,

    Mirjam

    Hi there,

Upgrading to a paid plan does not affect any of the data on your site. When you upgrade, you get access to the additional features associated with the plan, such as additional space, access to premium themes, ability to upload audio and video files, ability to add CSS etc.

So you need not backup your site. However, if you still want to backup of your site, you can create an export file with all of your site’s content by going to My Site >> Tools >> Export as explained here:

    Hi there,

Updating your plan does not endanger your content nor your followers. You don’t need a backup or change your URL.

To upgrade, you can go to https://wordpress.com/plans

If you decide later on that you want to downgrade to a cheaper plan, it also does not affect your content, but you will need staff assistance. Please note that if you downgrade outside the refund period of a plan, you might not be able to receive a refund for the difference in cost, so downgrading is best done when a plan is about to renew.

If you have any specific concerns in the process, make sure to ask. The community and the staff are always available.

    Good luck!
