If I upgrade my account to a paid account will I lose the design on my site? Will I be able to upload larger photos?

Hi there,
Please bare in mind that this is based on plans for WordPress.com rather than self-hosted WordPress.
If I upgrade my account to a paid account will I lose the design on my site?
The Premium and Business Plan unlock more options to customise the design of your site, but you need to manually make these changes. As such, once you upgrade, none of your design will immediately change unless you do otherwise.
Will I be able to upload larger photos?
By default, all media uploads cannot be larger than 1GB. This is the case for all plans, including the Free Plan. The reality is that no photo is going to be 1GB though.
However, what is offered is more storage for each plan:
Free – 3GB
Personal – 6GB
Premium – 13GB
Business – UnlimitedPricing: https://wordpress.com/pricing
Let me know if you have any further questions. :)

As far as the photos. It will only let me upload photos that are less than 65MB so not sure how the 1GB is found.

Hi there,
The documentation that references the 1GB max file size can be found here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/images/
That is odd that you are unable to upload any files larger then 65MB. However, that is a rather large file so I may suggest as a work around following the steps in this link: https://en.support.wordpress.com/media/image-optimization/ to optimize the file size for upload and then attempt it once more.
Hope this helps,
Cheers

Hi there,
The 1GB limit applies to video files, and those can only be uploaded on the Premium and Business plans.
If you’re trying to upload an image file of 65MB, it means you’re trying to upload an image thousands of times bigger than it can be displayed on any computer screen. When you add an image to a post or page we also make copies of that image at the actual size your site displays it, as per your site’s media settings, and those copies are what loads when someone views your site. So by uploading ultra high-res images at that type of file size all you’re really doing is wasting the storage space available in your account.
Images that have been properly optimised for the web, and resized according to the sizes your theme is able to display, shouldn’t be bigger than a few hundred kB at most, and you won’t run into any trouble uploading images at those sizes.

Hi there,
As TimeTheif mentioned your site, exclusivewindowsanddoors.com is using the WordPress.org software and is being hosted on HostGator. This means that the WordPress.com plans and file limits don’t apply. If you’re having trouble uploading images check with your host or service provider.
I also wanted to mention that the team here at WordPress.com also makes the Jetpack plugin which has many features to optimize and speed up your images load time.
The WordPress.org community may also be able to help you sort out any issues with your specific install.
