upgrade affecting domain

  I have shared my .wordpress.com domain with a few important people already. if I upgrade, will the .wordpress.com link direct them to my new page or will the link be broken?

  Buying a plan to get a custom domain address means that will be the address displayed at the top of browsers but your earlier address will still exist (and be available if you didn’t continue paying for the upgrade) and anyone who has bookmarked your old .wordpress.com address or types it into their browser will be immediately redirected to your new address.
