UPGRADE BENEFIT ADVICE FOR NEWCOMER
-
Hello,
Im currently in the process of launching a new online student magazine for the students of Plymouth University, Uk. Using the cutline theme on the free service, wordpress seems to offer me everything i would be looking for. However, there a few niggling little things that i would like to change to my layout. After reading around it seems that upgrading to custom css would help me. Bearing in my mind that i have no knowledge of css, but am interested in learning and feel i would be able to with some ease, would i be able to do the following:Remove the line and dotted line from the above the header.
Remove the two black lines at the top and bottom of the header.
Remove all suggestions of comments around post
Remove wordpress and cutline link at the bottom of page
Change little things like size of header, positioning of page links etc.
I hope im not throwing to much at you. Would i be able to do these sort of things by staying on the free service of wordpress, and simply upgrading to custom css and spending a few weeks learning css.
My blog, still in development and not yet launched is craphands.wordpress.com
Any help would be great,

My advice is, please don’t use all caps. It looks like you’re screaming.
Other answers:
yes, yes, no I don’t think so(the No Comments would still remain, it’s coded right in to your blog), don’t do it because WP really hates when you delete their credit of course and it’s only right and good to give credit to the designer whose work you’re tweaking, and yes.

And just a quick afterthought. How hard would a wordpress.org blog be to set up and run for someone with no web experience, but with a good understanding of the language of computers, if you know what i mean. Could i work it out? Cheers

Cheer raincoaster. Thats what i suspected, and is all good news from my point of view. wordpress is very good. And Sorry about the caps, i don’t even realise when im yelling.

Not hard. It’s a bit more futzing around, but it does give you total freedom. What you might want to do is start here with a domain name upgrade and then after you’ve practiced somewhat with the independent WP move to a university server or other hosting space after sixty days or so (can’t move before then with a domain name). Then you could sell ads and run javascript and embeds.
