Upgrade cancellation and refund

  • Unknown's avatar

I received a receipt yesterday by email notifiying me that WordPress had taken a payment via paypal through an automated auto-renewal transaction which I wasn’t aware had been set-up in the first place as an ongoing yearly transaction. I did not authorize any payment and have no option on my account in which to cancel this status nor ask for a refund or cancel the auto-renewal through paypal. I have tried on numerous occasions to cancel this before the payment was taken but have had no option in which to do so. I have now discovered the amount has been taken out of my bank account for $60.00.

This is wrong. Who can I speak to in order to get refunded? Anyone have any suggestions?

I cant get support on the phone I’ve dialled a US number from the UK and receive an automated voice message nor a direct conversation via chat. I am so frustrated!

Provided you are logged in under the same username account that purchased the upgrades, you can disable auto-renew Dashboard > Store > My Upgrades > Disable auto-renew

WordPress.com provides a 30-day refund on all upgrades except Domain Registrations, Domain Renewals, and Guided Transfers.
Provided you are logged in under the same username account that purchased the upgrades, you can request a refund yourself directly from the Store section of your Dashboard

Note: It takes from 1 – 2 weeks for the refund to be received.

I see the VideoPress upgrade was renewed for followingmissemily.wordpress.com because the upgrade was set to auto-renew. I would be happy to remove that upgrade from the site and issue you a refund of $60. Please confirm that is what you would like me to do, and I’ll take care of it for you.
