Upgrade Credits – Can you use them when renewing a plan?

    hi!

    I’m looking at renewing my plan and saw that I had $100 in upgrade credits. Can these be used to renew your plan? I don’t need to upgrade and would like to use these credits for renewal if possible.

    Hi there, not staff, but AFAIK, those credits can only be applied to an upgrade plan higher than your current plan or for extending the duration of your current plan. For example, if you originally purchased a Personal plan, you can use those credits to upgrade to a Premium or higher plan.

    You’ll also notice that over time the $100 will decrease in value.

    The upgrade credit is designed to apply when moving to a higher WordPress.com plan or switching to a longer payment frequency, such as going from monthly to annual, or upgrading from a one-year to a two-year subscription. It isn’t available for renewing the same plan at the current level.

    If your goal is to make the most of your credit, you could consider upgrading your plan or extending your payment period, which can give you extra features or savings over time.     You can use your upgrade credits toward renewing your plan, but it depends on the type of plan you currently have. Usually, WordPress applies any available credits automatically at checkout when you renew. If it doesn’t, it may be due to plan restrictions or account setup.

    Here’s what you can do:

    1. Go to your WordPress.com Billing page.
    2. Select Renew Plan for your site.
    3. During checkout, make sure your $100 credit is applied.
    4. If it doesn’t show up, contact WordPress support and mention your available upgrade credits—they can manually apply them.
