Upgrade – Domain?
-
If we upgrade the domain on wordpress, will that enable us to be able to host paid ads on our site, and not violate a TOS? If so or if not, could someone help me out in regards to this?
Thanks in advance. The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

The TOS are the same with or without domain. You can not have paid ads on wordpress, com. Period.

No it will not. The blog would still be hosted here and still subject to all the restrictions and the terms of service. It would just have a different URL is all.
If you want ads, you will have to self-host a blog on a third-party hosting service using the software from wordpress.ORG. Figure $10 to $25 per month average cost depending on bandwidth requirements.
You will be responsible for installation, configuration, upgrades, backups, and troubleshooting. If something goes wrong, you have to figure it out and fix it.
Do note that the vast majority of people doing advertising on blogs make around $100 per year – which will help pay for hosting, but typically will not cover it all.

I’ve been allowed by wordpress to readdress from http://www.fnyop.es to http://trabajodivertido.wordpress.com/ for a couple of years, since I bought that doamin in Spain -where I’m living.
Yesterday, December 4th, I was unable to do this.
I would like to know if this free feature have been removed by wordpress and if so, how to fix it.
On the other hand, I would like to know how to keep my gmail fnyop.es email which address to DNS I pay for. WordPress suggests to use its own NS1 wordpress.com, avoiding those which I got and are used in gmail porfessional account.
Anybody there to help with this issue?

I am in a similar situation. I would like to map an unused web domain I own to my wordpress blog. For other services simply adding a custom A record to the existing DNS is sufficient.
Not so with WordPress, which requires that the entire domain DNS record be moved to their server. The problem with this is that I have custom MX records that I would lose in the process.
Is there any workaround?

Well, for one thing it weeds out people who are interested in money rather than blogging. Gullible people.
Also, WordPress.com has now enabled the use of Adsense for gullible people who are interested in money rather than blogging (not that I’m opinionated on the subject).
Note that the feature is restricted to those “with a lot of traffic.” So go build your readership and when you think you have enough, apply for it.
