Upgrade from 2.8 too 2.8.4 failed

Hello! I’m getting the following errors when trying to upgrade from 2.8 to 2.8.4 via the “Upgrade Automatically” button:

Downloading update from http://wordpress.org/wordpress-2.8.4.zip.

Unpacking the update.

Could not copy files.

Installation Failed
</snip>

I’ve done a chmod 777 on the wp-content folder and am still getting the error. Can someone maybe help shed a little light on this one? It’s been QUITE the bugger of a bug to work with.
