Upgrade from free

    I want to become better at managing my (free) WordPress blog, including utilising (in future) the SEO and Google Analytics tools to help my blog. Should I upgrade in stages, or just head straight for Business. I am not a business. Thank you.

    If Advanced SEO & Google Analytics are your prime concern, upgrading directly to a Business plan makes more sense.

    But I would advise you to first upgrade to a Personal or Premium plan and get a custom domain name for your blog. After that, if you feel like you need to customize how your site appears on search result pages and understand better on where your traffic is coming from and who your audiences are, upgrade to the Business plan.
