upgrade jetpack, disconnect database, now I can't login

  • Unknown's avatar

    trutek.wordpress.com

I had stats on this site until two weeks ago. My jetpack said I needed to disconnect the database, but now I can’t start the database or even find the URL trutek.wordpress.com

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi there.

If I click on trutek.wordpress.com I get the message:

    trutek.wordpress.com doesn’t exist

As you’re speaking about Jetpack, this involves a self-hosted site, meaning it won’t have “wordpress” in its address. Are you perhaps looking for http://trutek.com/?

As that is a self-hosted site, you won’t be able to log into it via your WordPress.com account until you reconnect Jetpack. To do that you’ll have to log in via the WordPress.ORG dashboard, and we can’t help you with that in this forum. Just to be clear, WordPress.com and WordPress.org are completely separate and different: http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

You’ll need to post in the WordPress.org forums (http://wordpress.org/support/) or contact GoDaddy, who hosts that domain, directly.

On reconnecting the plugin specifically you can contact Jetpack support directly or post in the Jetpack subforum on WordPress.org: http://jetpack.me/support/

When I try to add trutek.wordpress.com, it says it already exists but I don’t own it. Who owns trutek.wordpress.com and how can I confirm that this is my URL?

  • trutek.wordpress.com doesn’t exist

The address trutek.wordpress.com cannot be registered. Sorry, that site is reserved!

When someone registers a specific username, the matching blog URL is reserved for them. In other words, if trutek.wordpress.com is reserved, that means someone registered the username trutek. Only that user will be able to register that blog.

If you registered that username, you’ll have to log in as that account to be able to register that blog.

What is the URL of the Jetpack-connected site you mentioned? WordPress.com sites can’t use Jetpack, so you couldn’t have lost access to trutek.wordpress.com by disconnecting Jetpack.

When I login as mikeswing, in my profile I see:

Manage which sites appear in your profile.

    mikeswing

    https://mikeswing.wordpress.com

    Mike’s Oracle Blog

    http://trutek.wordpress.com

This last blog is missing. I checked wordpress.org and I don’t have this hosted with anyone else. Plus wordpress.com seems to know about my Oracle Blog, trutek.wordpress.com.

I did get a message when I logged in about jetpack. I only use wordpress.com

I’m trying to figure out the email that goes with the trutek username, can you look that up?

  • Thanks for clarifying. I’m going to tag this for staff to follow up. Hopefully they can see what’s going on and help you get back to your site. Please be patient a little longer while waiting for their response.

  • To clarify, @mikeswing, which site had Jetpack? Can you send its address?

Trutek.wordpress.com hasn’t existed yet, but is reserved by the person who registered the matching username.

The site that said it needed to upgrade Jetpack was trutek.wordpress.com. When I tried to upgrade the Jetpack, it said I needed to disconnect the database first. TruTek is a Trademark of Logitek, Inc. so I don’t believe someone else would have grabbed the site since Aug18 when it was working. I can send a screenshot that shows my Oracle Blog, trutek.wordpress.com in my mikeswing.wordpress.com profile

  • Jetpack isn’t for sites hosted at WordPress.com though. It’s a service to bring some of the WordPress.com services to individual installations.

Would it have been wordpress.trutek.com perhaps? Or trutek.com/wordpress ?

I don’t remember where I saw the Jetpack upgrade notice, but I don’t use wordpress.org. The URL is trutek.wordpress.com. I can show you if I can send you a screenshot.

    Thanks
    Mike

  • Please, that would be helpful.

This shows my original blog, trutek.wordpress.com

  • I don’t see a picture. Do you have a web host?

  • @mikeswing
You can’t post a screenshot here directly. Paste it in http://snag.gy/ or upload it to dropbox/your media library, etc. and paste the URL here. Then we’ll be able to see it.

  • I did see trutek.wordpress.com listed on your Gravatar, but you can add any address there, and the screenshot was the one that says the site is reserved.

If you can find that different address we may be able to point you in the right direction.
