Hello.
I did not find the answer I am looking for.
I would like to know if i can taylor a plan.
I’m a blogger. My specific gener that i blog about is poetry. I really just would like to upgrade my site to montinize it.
I suppose my question is do i really need all the other features a that a premium plan offers just to montinize my blog.
Is their some way i can just have a basic plan and montinize it for a few dollars more?The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

There are a couple of different options for you. This support page is a great resource and can answer your questions as well:
https://en.support.wordpress.com/monetize-your-site/If you upgrade your plan you can have access to WordAds. You do not need to upgrade your plan though, but you to have to meet the eligibility in order to have WordAds.

“Q: I applied to WordAds. When will it be available to me?
A: Our advertisers have a minimum traffic requirement. Once you reach the level they’re looking for, your application will be automatically sent to them for evaluation.
Q: What is the minimum traffic requirement?
A: A site generally needs thousands of pageviews each month to earn meaningful revenue.
Q: Why do I need a custom domain name?
A: We are unable to provide WordAds for sites with the default free [example].wordpress.com URL, so you’ll need to either register a new domain name or map an existing domain name to your WordPress.com blog of choice.”

There are two routes for moving forward with WordAds:
1. Upgrading to the Personal plan
The Personal plan includes a domain credit which you can use to register a custom domain — one of the eligibility requirements for WordAds.
Once your site meets the eligibility requirements (listed at the bottom of the Apply page), you can apply for WordAds.
2. Upgrading to the Premium plan
Upgrading to the WordPress.com Premium plans gives you automatic access to the WordAds program and you can set up advertising on your sites immediately.
The main difference between the two options is whether your application is automatically approved or not. If you decide not to purchase a Premium plan, you can still apply but the process may take a little longer.

Yes, you will need a plan in order to register a custom domain:

The Personal plan would be the cheaper option if you don’t mind going through the application process :)
