Upgrade Plan

  I need to upgrade my plan because the credit card on file was changed and our account was not able to auto-renew. When I try to upgrade to a premium plan I receive the following error message ‘{‘error’:’wrong_user’,’message’:’This subscription was originally purchased by another user. Please ask the subscription owner to renew the subscription.’}’

  I’m an ADMIN on the account and the original subscription owner no longer works at our company. Is there anyway to transfer the license over to another user?

  Companies. groups and organizations of any kind do not own sites.

  Every WordPress.COM site has a sole owner. It is the person with the WordPress.COM username account who registered the blog under that username account and a single associated email address, and who is the original Admin of the blogs registered under that username account.

  If you do not have the required access you need to contact the person who registered the account and site under it and have them transfer the sites to your username account by using this process. http://en.support.wordpress.com/moving-a-blog/#transferring-your-blog-to-another-user-or-account

  The owner of the site can transfer the site (and/or upgrades) to another account by adding another username account as an Admin. https://en.support.wordpress.com/user-roles/#administrator

  Thank you Timethief! Do you know how to tell which user on the account is the sole owner? There are quite a few admins on the account that are no longer with the company.

  The upgrades for blog.akumina.com are owned by ericdarbe. Ownership can be transferred to you but we need permission from the current owner in order to do so. Do you want to take ownership of the site as well as the upgrades?

  Let me know and we’ll go from there.
