Upgrade Plugins manually (via ftp)
-
Hello,
I have a pretty simple question, although since wp2.5 has included that automatic upgrade function I can’t find information anymore on how to upgrade plugins manually.
I host my own blog on a fpt-server. When a new release of a plugin is published, to upgrade manually, are these the right steps?– deactivate plugin/widget
(- backup possible ‘hacked’ config-files etc.)
– upload the new files to the corresponding folder in my wp-content/plugins folder
– reactivate the pluginAre these steps everything I have to do? Is it recommended to make a db backup before upgrading any plugin?
I’m asking that because I can’t find information about this topic in the web and I’m afraid to loose important information, pictures etc. which have been added to my blog using some plugins etc.
Thanks in advance!
