Hi, I am strongly considering upgrading my account and have a couple of questions
.
1. If you look at my blog there are many many links (all entries have them) between posts .. will these automatically update if I change my domain name?In the event that I upgrade to a paid account and at some time in the future decide to stop blogging do I need to continue paying the annual fee and if I don’t do so is my account blown away or will it still be visible?

It’s great to hear that you’re considering an upgrade to your blog. Let me address your concerns:

You don’t have to worry about that. If you change your domain name, the links won’t change, but they will automatically redirect to your new domain name. This is something we handle for you the moment you register a domain name, ensuring a seamless transition.
In the event that I upgrade to a paid account and at some time in the future decide to stop blogging do I need to continue paying the annual fee and if I don’t do so is my account blown away or will it still be visible?
If in the future you decide to stop blogging and don’t renew your plan, your blog won’t disappear. It will simply revert back to the free plan. All your content will remain intact, and your blog will still be publicly visible, just from its original .wordpress.com address.
By the way, when you upgrade to one of our annual plans, you get a domain for free for the first year.
Given the features you might find useful, I’d recommend our Premium plan. It offers a robust set of features that many bloggers find invaluable, and it’s a fantastic starting point. However, if you’re looking for something more budget-friendly, the Personal plan is also a great choice.

If you happen to choose our Business or Commerce plan in order to add plugins, sometimes those plugins will add content in ways outside the standard posts/pages that are supported on our free sites. So if/when you do decide to downgrade, if you’re on a plan that supports plugins, just get in touch with support so we can help you ensure all of your content stays intact.
And that doesn’t apply if you’re using our Premium or Pesronal plan, since they don’t use outside plugins. Those will keep your content when you downgrade. Let us know if you have any questions!
