Upgrade Question

    I get a good number of followers on my blog, and I know I really should upgrade to a pay account soon. But my biggest concern is will my followers find me once I change my url. Does WordPress automatically do a redirect?

    It will not automatically redirect, it is an upgrade you can purchase, here is more info: https://en.support.wordpress.com/site-redirect/

    If you buy a custom domain, we automatically redirect your free address to the new domain. All the links to the free address will still work, and your followers won’t even notice that anything has changed unless they look at the URL in their browsers. They will still get email updates and see your posts in the Reader exactly as before.

    Please disregard the advice regarding the site redirect as it does not apply in this case.

    The site redirect upgrade exists to redirect traffic from a WordPress.com site to another WordPress.com site or to a site hosted somewhere else. It does the exact opposite of a domain mapping or custom domain upgrade.
