  I would like the ability to download more widgets to my current free blog. I did this once before and don’t remember how. Is this feature only available with a paid account and if so which upgrade do i need

  Hi there. You already have access to all of the widgets that are available with WordPress.com. There is no further upgrade to get more.

  However, the Text Widget can be useful, since it allows you to include (some) HTML code to display almost anything you want:
