I see that once you upgrade to the $15/ month package you are able to accept payments. What are the fees & costs associated with accepting payments? We are a nonprofit in the USA.

  • Hi there,

This can depend greatly on what kind of commerce you plan to set up on your site.

We do offer a few built in options for setting up a simple page to sell products/services you can use our “payments block” which does have fees you can see here: https://wordpress.com/support/wordpress-editor/blocks/payments/#related-fees

However that is not the only way to accept payments on your site. If you are trying to set up more of a traditional eCommerce site, you have the flexibility to choose from a few different payment processors, and those tend to have their own unique fee structures.

Feel free to tell us a bit more about what you are trying to set up in detail and we’ll be happy to take that into account and see what might be the best solution for you. Thanks!

Basically the site is for Boy Scouts of America. We would be collecting membership fees and thing like that. I was curious about different fees associated with accepting transactions. We are a non-profit also so I was wondering if that would help.

You can review all of the monetization options here:

    https://wordpress.com/support/monetize-your-site/

Depending on what memberships and other items you would be charging for will help determine which way you can go with monetization – e.g. using a Payments block instead of a full WooCommerce ecommerce solution.

Any fees are listed at the above support document link and is not something that is removed or reduced for nonprofits.

Let us know if anything in that fee list is unclear.
