Upgrade Theme
-
Newbie question. Installed theme ‘Chateau’ and it does about everything I want except that the header images cannot be assigned to different pages.
From ‘Appearance–>Theme’ clicked on the designer’s name and was taken to a page that showed that there was an upgrade available. Purchased the upgrade, but now wondering if I haven’t just blown the money since it gave me a download of the theme. What I thought would happen is that the theme would automatically be installed, but instead it had me download it and without FTP there is no way to install the upgraded theme.
Is there anyway to get the upgraded theme installed?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

The answer to your question is “no”. There is no FTP access to WordPress.com free hosted blogs and we cannot upload any third party themes.

The versions of the themes we have here are adapted to run on our multiuser software.

The only themes we can use are found here > Appearance > Themes.
The list of themes that support flexible headers is here > http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/features/flexible-header/ -
Thanks. Would you have any idea on how to get a refund for the upgrade on the Chateau theme? (Actually, the theme was purchased twice.)

Wait! So, if I upgraded for the customized theme ($30 USD) I’ll be able to upgrade the Chateau theme?

You didn’t buy it from WordPress.com as it’s a free theme. You need to return to whoever sold it to you and request a refund.

Never mind. Answered my own question. For a moment there I thought the Custom Theme upgrade would solve the problem, but alas it turns out not to be true. Already have that upgrade.
Let me put the issue in a different perspective. What I want to do is to be able to have different header images assigned to specific pages. Any idea(s) on how to proceed?

No. See here for the available premium themes that WordPress.com bloggers can purchase > http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/sort/premium/

Is there any chance of WP.com adding the Chateau upgrade to the list of premium themes? Really would like to use the upgrade version 2.0.1.

here’s some good news. I just went to my test blog loaded Chateau and did exactly what you said you could not do. I created an new Page and then I uploaded a featured image. Images of exactly 960 × 260 pixels will be used as-is That image now overtakes the header and displays on that page. Then I did the same thing on a post. http://en.support.wordpress.com/featured-images/#setting-a-featured-image

Thank you for your help. Did as you say and it worked on all but one page. The page in question is the one being used for the blog (‘Available Items’). For whatever reason it the header image remains unchanged. Is there some sort of trick to get it to recognize the change?
