Upgrade to 2.9.5

Hi there:) I am new at this whole blogging thing so I have a couple of questions. About a year a go we had a webdesign company to design a website for us, and one of the pages is a blog, which they have set up with WordPress. I would love to start working on it, but somewhat feel my options are limited, I eg. wanted to upgrade my blog since it’s running on 2.6.5 and wanted to install a back-up plugin and also back up my files before upgrading the blog, however I need to upload these features to a directory, but I can not seem to find that directory. When I also try to upgrade plugins it tells me that it fails because it cannot find the directory. Does this mean I have to go through the webdesgn company? If so, is there any way that these rights can be forwarded to me, so that I don’t have to go through them all the time?

This support forum is for blogs hosted at WordPress.com. If your question is about a self-hosted WordPress blog then you’ll find help at the WordPress.org forums.

If you don’t understand the difference between WordPress.com and WordPress.org, you may find this information helpful.

If you forgot to include a link to your blog, you can reply and include it below. It’ll help people to answer your question.

supportbot’s suspicion – that your blog is not at wordpress.com – is justified. So wordpress.org would be a more appropriate place to ask. I suspect, however, that you may also have to go through the firm that set up the blog for you, if only to get admin passwords.

What’s linked to your wordpress.com username is not a wordpress.com blog. Worse still on this forum where signature link drops are not allowed you are doing that. Please stop.
