This is a peer support forum where Volunteers and Staff work cooperatively to deliver WordPress.com support. There is no phone support here and we Volunteers do not provide support by email.
Volunteers answer most questions posted into forum threads and Staff monitor. When Volunteers cannot provide the required support we flag threads for Staff attention.
See here for details of all 3 plans http://store.wordpress.com/bundles/
Business — $299
A custom .com, .net, .org, or .me website address such as http://ourfabulousbusiness.com.
Advanced customization — choose custom fonts and colors, and modify your CSS.
Choose from over 120 free themes or 50+ premium themes, and switch premium themes at any time.
Unlimited storage space for anything you want to upload.
Direct email and live chat support from our Happiness Engineers.
See here > http://store.wordpress.com/premium-upgrades/wordpress-business/Note that none of the plans allow you to run advertising or to upload your own themes or plugins. WordPress.com blogs cannot be equipped for eCommerce transactions. If you need a site that requires a custom theme or plugins — e.g., if you want to be able to sell things directly from your site, or if you want to install discussion forums — a self-hosted WordPress site might be right for you.
WordPress.org offers free software that you can install on a web server. You can upload and install themes and plugins, run ads, and edit the database. Learn about the differences here. http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
Upgrades are also available for individual purchase on a per blog basis. With the exception of the Guided Transfer, all upgrades are per year and per blog. You will find the relevant links to available upgrades here. http://en.support.wordpress.com/upgrades/

If you do decide WordPress.com is the correct host for your site, then in order to map to a domain one must have an underlying .wordpress.com subdomain blog to map from. If you have registered a .wordpress.com blog then you log in under the exact same username account that registered the blog and purchase a domain name by purchasing an annually renewable domain mapping upgrade for the blog. http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/
If you already own that domain name see here > http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/
Dashboard > Store > My Upgrades is where you do the primary blog set up knowing it can take between 24 – 72 hours for domain name propagation to take place throughout the internet. You can view the DNS changes here > http://www.whatsmydns.net/ What’s important during that stage is to be patient.

Thank you. Looks like the business site is the way to go for us. We have an existing domain name hosted by another host, so we’ll want to switch that over once the design of our new wordpress site is done. Should I purchase the map-existing-domain function now or wait until we’re ready to switch it over?

I just saw this…
Transferring a Domain to WordPress.com
We do not currently accept incoming domain transfers. If you already have a domain and you want to use it with your WordPress.com site, follow the instructions for mapping an existing domain to your WordPress.com blog.
I’m confused. We currently have a very very bad website hosted with another company. We are re-building our website through WordPress and won’t to keep our existing domain name that everyone knows and uses. Will we be able to transfer our current domain name let’s pretend it’s www dot 123 dot com to our new wordpress site? and eliminate the current host entirely but keep our name?

So in other words, I’ll still need to pay the existing domain host and then pay wordpress for mapping it?
