Upgrade to Business Account, but Won’t let us change Credit Cards

    Our website was created 5 years ago by someone who is no longer affiliated with our organization. We are trying to upgrade our website, but the original person still has control of the site. Can you help us please?

    Unfortunately, you cannot upgrade the website directly as you are not the owner yet.

    You need to have the required access and for this, you need to contact the person who registered the account and site under it and request them to transfer the sites to your username account.

    The owner of the site can transfer the site to another account by adding another username account as an Admin. https://en.support.wordpress.com/user-roles/#administrator

    Hi there,

    Your site, and the upgrades on it, belong to another account. Only that account has the ability to transfer ownership to someone else.

    This is not something we can help with – we cannot violate the ownership of the person who created the site and paid for the upgrades under any circumstances. So the only option here is to contact that person directly and ask them to transfer the site and upgrades to you as explained above.

    We also cannot reach out to the site owner on your behalf in this matter.
