upgrade to domain name
-
It says I can upgrade to a domain name for $18/year. That sounds good. But then that would change the address links to my previous posts, right? Is there a fix to that? (That’s what I’m trying to find a way to do.)
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Upgrading to a custom domain name on WordPress.com does not ruin any previous links. Any links to your ________.wordpress.com URL will be redirected to the correct new ________.com URL.
However, Domains are no longer available for purchase or mapping individually. They are included with WordPress.com Premium. This change has been made as we work to offer the best combination of value and performance for users while still offering a completely free product for those who do not wish to purchase any upgrades.
A great way to go if you are not interested in WordPress.com Premium is to look into setting up a self-hosted WordPress.org site through a hosting provider such as Bluehost, GoDaddy, or Pressable.

The $18 price has been on my dashboard. That would give me a .com. I chose instead, .me, for $25. I went ahead and upgraded. It seems to have ruined my previous links, but maybe I’m wrong, perhaps it automatically re-directs.

Is the re-direction permanent?
It’s confusing that familyfarmjustice.com (I could have paid only $18 & gotten this,) is shown, tough I signed up for familyfarmjustice.me (I paid $25, but did I actually get it?). There seem to be contradictory versions of this. They say it will be erratic for 72 hours, so maybe I can’t know until then.
I also signed up for email, and added 1 email address. Since I think I agreed to the contract, I should be able to receive email, (and I sent a test email)? It sent me to google aps. Why? Is WordPress owned by Google? How do I read my email? Is it at WordPress.come somewhere, at my blog site? Is it over at googleaps? I seem to have 2 sign ins, one for WordPress and one for Google Aps? Is the google one just for email? What’s the web address for signing in to read the email I’ve received?

Yes, when you set up a custom domain (johnsmith.com for example), all johnsmith.wordpress.com URLs will redirect to your new johnsmith.com URLs.

I will work to make sure that price display is removed. My apologies for the confusion. There is no way to purchase a domain for $18 any longer. Domains must be purchased with a plan. However once you have a plan, you can purchase additional domains for that site without purchasing additional plans. And that is exactly what you did with familyfarmjustice.me.
You own both familyfarmjustice.com and familyfarmjustice.me for your http://familyfarmjustice.wordpress.com/ website. You currently have your primary domain set to familyfarmjustice.com. This means that any time someone attempts to visit familyfarmjustice.wordpress.com or familyfarmjustice.me, they will be redirected and see familyfarmjustice.com in their browser’s address bar. You can switch that to familyfarmjustice.me if you prefer by following these instructions:

Yes, you have purchased google apps for familyfarmjustice.me. You can see the setup instructions here:

WordPress.com is not owned by google. We just offer Google Apps email for users who have a custom domain and wish to set up email.
