Upgrade to paid
-
I recently received an email about a renewal for my blog. I canceled the renewal, but I changed my mind and I would like to renew. The renewal notice I received was for $22. I clicked on the link in the email to upgrade again, but it’s way higher priced now. Why is that? Can I renew at the rate I was sent in the email? All I would like to do is have the ability to earn ad revenue. I don’t understand why my renewal notice said $22 for the year and now it’s saying $18 a month.

Hi there,
when you cancel your domain there is a short 5 day grace period where we can recover the domain without incurring a late redemption fee. However, you canceled this domain last week on the 16th, and it is now outside of the grace period and has been returned to the registry. We are no longer in control of this domain.
The good news is that we may be able to recover your domain, but at this stage the registry charges an $80 “redemption fee” to recover the domain, which we are not able to waive for any reason.
Once the domain is in redemption there is no guarantee it will return to public sale again (since there is a wholesale auction during the redemption period where it can be purchased by someone else) so if you intend to keep ownership of this domain we recommend recovering it as soon as possible. More info here: https://wordpress.com/support/domains/domain-expiration/#renewing-a-domain-in-the-redemption-period
Please check your inbox for the invoice we just sent, which will include a link to pay for the renewal of as well as the late redemption fee. After you make payment please return here to let us know so we can take the next step to recover the domain.

Thank you for your reply! I will not renew. I got a request for payment so I will ignore it. I’m assuming I won’t be charged automatically .

Hi again,
Correct you will not be charged. Also I’ve cancelled the invoice on our end.
Hope that helps. Please let us know if you have any more questions.
