Upgrade to personal plan and change domain name

  I would like to upgrade to a personal plan AND change the domain name to On The War Memorial Trail. How do I do this without losing the existing content and followers?

  Hi @bordencarletonresearchproject, no problem at all. You’ll be adding the domain to your existing site, so all of the content and followers will remain. Start here:
  https://wordpress.com/plans

  Choose your existing site, choose a plan, and you’ll be able to add a domain from there. Cheers!

  Thanks for this information. I went to the checkout and can see where I have to pay to upgrade to a personal plan. But do I add the domain name before or after I pay? I didn’t see a screen that lets me add the domain name before I pay.

  Hi there,

  You can add your domain after you upgrade to the plan. I can confirm I see WordPress.com Personal Plan (Annual) in your cart here: https://wordpress.com/checkout/bordencarletonresearchproject.wordpress.com?order-review=true

  Once you complete that purchase you can add your domain here: https://wordpress.com/domains/add/

  Because you are purchasing one of our yearly plans (as opposed the monthly option) your plan will include the domain for free this year, and there will not be an additional charge to add it.
