  Hi, I’ve already given out a lot of business cards and sent links to my site as .wordpress.com.
  I would like to upgrade to premium so I can have .com but not sure if typing or clicking on the .wordpress.com link will still open my site. Please would you confirm as I don’t want people to click the old .wordpress.com and see some kind of error message. Or would it lead through to a change of address page/redirection page and then go to the new address?

  Hi there,

  Once you add a custom domain to your plan, you will need to make it your primary domain, then the WordPress.com url will be redirected to the .com url.
