Upgrade to premium – can I retain wordpress domain for time being?

  Hi there

  I would like to upgrade to premium to avoid the advertisements and more customisation options however don’t want to change to a new domain at this stage as I have already told people my blog address.

  So, can I upgrade without changing my blog address? I would eventually like to change to my own domain name but not just now.

  A speedy reply would be great as I need to sort this out asap.

  Hi, you’re not requested to change your blog address when you upgrade to premium. I’ve just recently upgraded mine and my blog address remains the same ;)

  The top level domain here is wordpress.com and all blogs hosted here are on .wordpress.com sub-domains.

  Do I need a domain? No upgrade to a custom domain is required to create a successful blog. However, the Premium bundle of upgrades does, in fact, include a domain mapping upgrade in it.

  There is also a domain mapping upgrade that can be separately purchased at any time. Dashboard > Store

  If you intend to blog over the long term then branding via custom domain is an important consideration, and the time to upgrade to a a custom domain is as early as possible.
