Upgrade to WordPress.com
-
Good afternoon
We are not sufficiently tech savvy to get things running smoothly at kleuterkliek.co.za
We consider moving to WordPress.com (Personal) from .org and require
Import of
– wordpress.org posts (with images)
– wordpress.com historic posts (with images) – free edition of .com
– Zoho Sites posts posts (with images)We need to have an online shop – can we implement Woocommerce on Personal ?
We require integration with Mailchimp as well.
If we get stuck with implementing the above and are Personal subscribers – will your team help us ?
The plan is to map our existing domain and keep our present hosting company.
Regards

Hello!
Unfortunately, it is not possible to use Woocommerce in the personal plan, here you have all the plans and features:
https://wordpress.com/support/plan-features/
you can manually install the plugin with the business plan or you can choose the most complete e-commerce plan that already comes with the plugin integrated, also Mailchimp is available for both plans.
If you need help with domain mapping:

Good afternoon
Thank you for the reply.
I followed the steps in this article : https://wordpress.com/support/domains/map-existing-domain/
When I try to check out, I am billed for Premium, but prefer Personal.
Can I map our custom domain to WordPress.com on Personal ?
If so, how do I change the check-out not to add Premium ?
Thanks
-
Edit – I managed to get the cart to show Personal (used the upgrade button top left when logged in).
Am I correct in assuming that my custom domain will “point” to my WordPress.com domain, ie. people will see the WordPress address in their browser once redirected from custom domain to WordPress ?
If I need the custom domain to be the address shown in the browser address bar, even after the redirect/mapping, do I need to transfer the custom domain instead of mapping ?
-
Alternatively, can we change our WordPress.com domain to kleuterkliek.wordpress.com and stick to mapping the custom domain ?
-
Hi again,
To map a domain, you’ll need:“An upgraded WordPress.com plan on your site (such as a Personal, Premium or Business plan, etc.)”
You cannot map your domain to a free plan as Kleuterkliek.wordpress.com
I have added a tag so that a Staff member can help you. I don’t want to tell you something that gets out of my hands about domain and transfers.
Good luck! :)

You can add the personal plan to your account first, and then map the domain. This way you can ignore that premium suggestion at check out.
Go here: https://wordpress.com/pricing/ and pick the personal option. Once you’ve added it to your account, follow these directions to complete the mapping process. https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/
Write back to me here if you have trouble.

Morning, Liz !
Thanks for the help so far.
I upgraded to Personal and now want to first build the new site on kleuterkliek.blog by importing posts and media, while the original kleuterkliek.co.za still stays active.
Then I would like to follow these directions to complete the mapping process and replace the original kleuterkliek.co.za with the newly built WordPress.com site : https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/
To build the new site, I will follow the steps here : https://wordpress.com/posts/kleuterkliek.blog
Is the above the correct way to proceed ?
-
You can import your content as explained here:
https://wordpress.com/support/import/
As for the domain mapping, that’s correct. You can map the domain after your new site is ready to be launched.

Afternoon !
Domain mapping completed by Xneelo and kleuterkliek.co.za points to the WordPress.com site.
I do get a security warning though :
https://1drv.ms/u/s!Aut-ulbZEWIqhYwlRouJ1aPYRDweUQ?e=lygbOoAccording to this article “For mapped domains, SSL certificates are only added after you add our name servers to your domain.”
https://wordpress.com/support/https-ssl/#why-is-my-site-missing-an-ssl-certificateShould I wait a while and try again ?
-
Hi there,
I made an adjustment on our end and the SSL certificate is working correctly.
If this doesn’t work or you have more questions, just let me know and I’ll be happy to help!
-
Good afternoon, all good now, thank you !
As I progress setting up the site, may I post here when I get stuck, or should I use another channel ?
-
You can reach support via https://wordpress.com/help/contact, although for that, you’ll need to be logged in as
oasisklubsince that’s the account that owns the subscriptions.
