  • Hi there,

You can upgrade any WordPress.com hosted site to the Pro plan through the Upgrades page. Here’s a direct link to that page:

    https://wordpress.com/plans/

To transfer a domain to our platform, just follow these instructions:

    https://wordpress.com/support/incoming-domain-transfer/

If you have any other questions, just let me know, and I’ll be happy to help.

Thank you for the email, I see the 3 options are Backup, Security and Complete, I am new to WordPress and need a bit more assistance please.
I design website for clients, and the Little Hair House is hosted by HostGator and I used WordPress / Elementor to design.

If I upgrade, can I use WordPress for the different domains, because some domains are listed in South Africa can I also use wordpress / elementor to design these sites. And how does it work – how do I design a new site with a registered domain.

How many domains can I have if I should upgrade to let say Security?
Do you offer a chat if I upgrade, that just makes communication easier.

Please excuse my ignorance, I always used other companies to do my website designs, but started this year to create them myself. Just so many problems using other people to do work for my clients.

    Thank you

  • Hi there,

If this is for littlehairhouse.net, you cannot buy a WordPress.com plan for that site, because that site isn’t hosted on WordPress.com. That site is using the open source WordPress.org software at another hosting provider, and is just connected to your WordPress.com account via the Jetpack plugin. The plans you see, are plans for the paid version of Jetpack.

In other words, the WordPress.com Pro plan only applies to sites hosted on our servers, not WordPress sites hosted at other providers.

In case it helps, we have an overview of the difference here:

    https://wordpress.com/en/support/com-vs-org/

If I upgrade, can I use WordPress for the different domains, because some domains are listed in South Africa can I also use wordpress / elementor to design these sites. And how does it work – how do I design a new site with a registered domain.

If you want to use WordPress.com, i.e. create a website hosted with us, you’ll start by creating a new site at https://wordpress.com/start/site/

That new site you’ll be able to upgrade to Pro, and once you do that you’ll be able to use most WordPress themes and plugins on that site.

You can also migrate your existing site to us if you prefer. You can find details on how to do that here:

    https://wordpress.com/support/import/import-an-entire-wordpress-site/

Pro also includes one free domain registration or transfer, free for the first year. From the second year onwards the domain renewal cost will be added on top of the plan cost. For any additional domains, you’ll pay extra to register each domain, though there’s no limit on the number of domains you can add.

The plan also allows you to connect domains you already own through other providers. You can connect as many domains as you want at no additional cost, but you’ll still need to pay to renew those domains at the providers where you registered them.

How many domains can I have if I should upgrade to let say Security?

The Jetpack Security plan doesn’t have anything to do with your hosting and domains, but instead unlocks some of the premium features of the Jetpack plugin. You can see which features the different Jetpack plans include here:

    https://cloud.jetpack.com/pricing

To add any additional domains on your current site at http://littlehairhouse.net/, you’d need to contact your hosting provider directly.

I hope that clarifies things a bit, but please don’t hesitate to ask if you have any other questions :)
