Upgrade-Use og my own domain

Hello! I saw that I can use my own domain (that I allready have) with my wordpress.com blog for a reasonable price. But wordpress.com is encrypted using https. Will I need to set up my own https certificats/encrypting to be able to use wordpress.com blog with my domain? If I dont have a https certificate will my blog then be in plain text without encryption? How will this work?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

custom domain names don’t use https at this point on WordPress.COM so no need to do anything – this is a sore point with some of us that have custom domain names and with search engines starting to downgrade a bit non-https sites
The regular your0blog.wordpress.com are as you noted encrypted – but not the custom domain names

OK. Thanks for a very quick answer. The “closest to perfect” I could come was to register domain.com and then “resend” this to https://domain.worpress.com. It works OK for a hobby web page. I guess this will be the more or less permanent solution and it is not so bad.

If you use domain mapping all the changes are done in the background (the site linked to my name is domain mapped)

If you have email associated with the custom name then you will need to do a bit more work and make arrangements for the email – several options – some cost some don’t

Thanks for info. If I pay this USD 13 and map my domain to my wordpress.com blog, will I need my own https certificate or will the site be unencryptet or will it still be encryptet without my own https certificate?
