upgrade version 2.7.1 to 2.8.4

Hi guys ,
I am trying to upgrade my wordpress version 2.7.1 to 2.8.4 . for this i downloaded the version 2.8.4 . i didn’t found any update patches there and on the readme file “1.Delete your old WP files, saving ones you’ve modified.” is that line means we have to delete all the files including the folders becouse all the folders are also named as wp_ . any one please guide me to upgrade my version .Thanks in Advance

You are in the wrong forum. You need to inquire over at http://wordpress.ORG/support as that is where self-hosted blogs are supported. We don’t have to do upgrades here, they are done for us so we don’t know anything about the software.

my experience is when i upgrade my site “ashokha.com” from 2.7.1 to 2.8.4 the entire site is disappeared. search answer is “404 site not found” now I am writing to my site creator ruchie.com and the power engine wordpress.com. now I feel it is better to remain in 2.7.1

I AM VERY SORRY. WORDPRESS IS VERY HARD IN THEIR SOFTWARE NOW I THINK. I HAVE A BITTER EXPERIENCE ALREADY. I WANTED TO CHANGE THE THEME SIX MONTHS BACK. BUT I COULDN’T. NOW I HAVE LOST MY SITE ITSELF.

now i have gone to the address given by husdal but the site asks register once again. now i have to register again in that forum. dot org and dot com is the problem. what I have already told is correct. wordpress software is hardware.

But this is the wp.COM forum while you have a wp.ORG blog: different software, different problems, different solutions. That’s why there are two separate forums – we simply cannot help you here.
