Upgraded an expired Videopress – now not working

  Upgraded again to Videopress, which I think expired, but can’t find out details about this anywhere. I have a number of videos on the blog.

  Two problems:
  1. Using Chrome, the videos now show some overlayed blue bar on top of the video controls.

  2. Using IE, user can’t play videos at all and gets a message: “You do not have sufficient freedom levels to view this video.” The message even has a link to some massive legalistic verbose page which makes no sense in any case.

  I already tried the forum on this and they suggested emailing you, which I thought I did many days ago. Please respond, as my video-intensive blog is mostly useless!

  I don’t see anything particularly wrong.

  1. This is because Chrome is using its native (no-Flash) media player to play the files.

  2. I’m unable to reproduce this, maybe something’s wrong with your copy of IE? Do you have Flash player installed?

  All the videos played perfectly in Chrome and IE before I renewed my Videopress feature. Something dramatic changed after renewing. I’ve tried the IE player on other computers where flash works fine – everywhere except on my blog. I’ve even played videos on other WordPress blogs using Videopress and they work fine.

  My stats also show that none of the videos have been played since renewed.

  Renewing VideoPress wouldn’t have changed it so drastically.

  Try unchecking “Only display videos in free software formats” at Settings -> Media in your blog’s Dashboard.

  OK, that fixed it! The only change is that the arrow on the video was replaced by a square outline. Can that be fixed?

  BTW, I don’t usually need to dive into the menus so much, but I notice that there are now zillions of menus and submenus all over the place. I used to think Dreamweaver was complex, but now I’m having second thoughts ;-)

  The arrow still seems to be there.

  Would you please try clearing your browser’s cookies and cache?
