Upgraded to DNS & site won't recognize me
-
I just paid WordPress to allow my GoDaddy DNS to serve as my WordPress url. Now when I log in, my site doesn’t recognize me–I sign in over and over, but the ‘log in’ shows up on my pages versus my navigation bar along the top. Domain Helper claims all is well. Do I regret this enough to ask for a refund? I’m already paying GoDaddy for my DNSes.

Hi there, your domain name looks correctly mapped to your WordPress.com site.
Could you please try clearing your browser’s cache and try logging in again?
If you still have trouble, would you mind letting me know if:
– you have any trouble logging in using a different browser, such as Firefox?
– you have third-party cookies enabled in Chrome? Thanks for your help in troubleshooting while we get this sorted out for you.

Hey Kathryn-
Thanks for your response. I’d already emptied my cache and restarted. When I opened in IE, voila, my navigator bar was there. However when I open in Google Chrome, I can only operate as administrator to my site from the dashboard. As soon as I go to my actual pages, no navigator bar and I’m signed out again–repeatedly. Please don’t give up on this. I prefer Chrome, don’t want to go through IE and want to keep my DNS in WordPress. Help me back to straight forward–again.
Yours in the trenches,

Hi Janine, thanks for testing another browser – now we can focus our troubleshooting on Chrome. :-)
Could you please try turning off all your Chrome extensions and add-ons, and restarting the browser? Here are instructions for doing that:
http://support.google.com/chrome/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=187443
Scroll down to the section called “Temporarily disable extensions.”
If the admin bar reappears, you can then try reactivating the add-ons/extensions one-by-one to find the culprit that’s been conflicting.
Could you please also make sure that third-party cookies are enabled in Chrome?
Let me know how it goes.

Hey Kathryn-
I did all and hurray! The navigation bar’s back. I’d only enabled 2 extensions–reload all tabs and Google Docs–so I suspect those weren’t the culprits. However it could have been the 3rd party cookies, which I really don’t like enabling. Might I get rid of them once my navigator bar stays put for a session?Yours in the trenches,
Janine -
Yay! Glad you got your admin bar back. Third-party cookies are required for many features, including the ability to preview your pages correctly with a custom domain. You can read more about how we use third-party cookies here:
If you’re concerned, you can try setting up your cookies in a way that only allows them for WordPress.com and your own domain.
Happy blogging!

Would love to send you a Jacquie Lawson e-card for your help, but not tech savvy enough to make that happen. Please accept my appreciation here, instead. You rock, Kathryn.
