Upgraded to premium and created a new domain, but not working

    Hi, I upgraded to premium plan – because I thought that I would get a free domain, which means that I could have a web address without wordpress.com.

    So I thought that my blog address would now be the new domain address. But its 3 days and nothing seems to happen. I can’t access the new domain and i’m not sure how to get it running like how i imagined it to be.

    There doesn’t seem to be a proper place for help either :(

    There is a red notice “DNS need to be updated” but i have no idea what is all these. I’m not really knowledgeable about all these. All I want it for my blog to use the new domain name and for those who click the previous name to be re-directed to the new domain name.

    Hello there,

    When you upgraded to the premium plan, did you purchase a new domain along with the purchase, or did you ‘map’ an existing domain to your WordPress.com blog? Could you also tell us the domain name you purchased, so that I could look into the issue?

    Normally, the ‘DNS needs to be updated’ error pops up, when you try to ‘map’ an existing domain you already own (purchased from another domain registrar) to your WordPress.com blog. To point a domain you already own to your WordPress.com blog, you need to visit the control panel of your domain registrar, where you can edit the DNS (Domain Name System) values to the default values of WordPress.com, which will instruct the registrar to point the domain you own to your WordPress.com.

    If you get a ‘DNS Needs to be updated’ error, the reason for the same could be that the DNS values of the domain you have registered with another registrar does not point to WordPress.com.

    leejindramacorner.com – does not seem to be registered,

    I have flagged this for the staff to help

    Also look through your upgrades and double check what you bought

    – you can try registering the name again (there are two parts to make a custom domain name work, domain registration (which seems not to have happened) and Domain Mapping (which seems to be OK).

    Sometimes people forget or get confused with the process and only do one or the other –

    i bought the premium plan and then choose a domain name? when i click on my domains page, it has both my free blog and leejindramacorner.com listed as my domains. it states there as active but when i use it as a primary domain it doesn’t work. actually it still doesn’t work even if its not a primary domain.

    Hi there,

    I’m sorry for the trouble! There was a problem with the domain registration the first time around, and the domain didn’t get registered correctly. I just resubmitted your domain registration for leejindramacorner.com.

    It may take a little time for that domain to start working now, but if you continue to have trouble with it please let me know!
