have domain ‘helgerudterrasse.no’. use ‘wordpress.helgerudterrasse.no’ at wordpress. routing to our own domain. Now, after upgrade, I see we have helgerudterrasseno as our wordpress domain, and I cannot access old pages at initial domain. What happened, and how can I go back to my old site with the new plan?
I cannot add the old domain, either, as wordpress says it is already in use. of course, it´s ours!

  • Hi there,

The domain helgerudterrasse.no is not registered with WordPress.com, only mapped with us – the domain is hosted elsewhere. Everything is mapped and set up correctly on this end under your WordPress.com account, but the nameservers of the domain are not pointing over to the WordPress.com site. There are currently:

    ns1.hyp.net
    ns2.hyp.net
    ns3.hyp.net

In order to use your domain hosted elsewhere with your WordPress.com site, you’ll need to change the domain nameservers at your domain host, and point them over to WordPress.com. Our nameservers are:

    NS1.WORDPRESS.COM
    NS2.WORDPRESS.COM
    NS3.WORDPRESS.COM

For instructions on both processes, please visit our support page:

    https://en.support.wordpress.com/map-existing-domain/

Let me know if you have any questions.

    Thanks!

    hi, thanx, but:
I did that, but then I could not use our e-mail on our own side.
And, still, I cannot reach my files on helgerudterrasse.no, after I upgraded to Private

  • I did that, but then I could not use our e-mail on our own side.

You will need to add some additional DNS records for the email to work correctly:

    https://wordpress.com/support/add-email/#setting-up-email-from-another-provider.

I cannot reach my files on helgerudterrasse.no after I upgraded to Private

I’m not sure I understand what you are trying to achieve here. The domain is just an address. If you point it to your WordPress.com site, that’s what it will be displaying. If you keep the nameservers pointing elsewhere, it will display the site hosted on those servers.

That said, right now, helgerudterrasse.no is not pointing to WordPress.com, and if you’re having any trouble with the site it’s displaying, you will need to reach out to your original host.

Thanks, but again: helgerudterrasse.no has been using wordpress for years, on a free version. We own the domain, and had it routed to wordpress.
Now, we bought an upgrade “private”, to achiece better view of the individual posts/pages
Somehow, there now is a new adress on our wordpress account: helgerudterrasseno.wordpress
    previously we used helgerudterrasse.wordpress.
I use the same login details as before, but reach only the new one. That means that all the files on the original one are not to be found.
I did the mapping from our domain to the wordpress, but somehow, it got mapped to helgerudterrasse.wordpress. Which is fine, if I only could reach the site.

would deleting the helgerudterrasseno.wordpress give me back the helgerudterrasse.wordpress?
I paid upgrade for the latter, on the first one, it is still awaiting payment.

  • Hi there,

Now, we bought an upgrade “private”, to achiece better view of the individual posts/pages

I’m not sure I understand. I do not see any upgrades under your @styrethelgerud WordPress.com account when I check on our end. You can confirm by visiting this page: https://wordpress.com/me/purchases/.

Is it possible you made your purchase under a different login? I can confirm that helgerudterrasse.no is registered in our system but it is under a different account. Not your @styrethelgerud WordPress.com account, but an account that uses a different username and password.

Do you have the option to log out as @styrethelgerud and instead log in under the account you set helgerudterrasse.no up under? If you do not recall your password for that account, you can reset it here: https://wordpress.com/wp-login.php?action=lostpassword

You are right, sorry, my bad. I seem to have made a new account, hence the confusion!
Now, I will read up on rthe MX to make sure e-mail works
