Upgrades

If I start on the free program, Ihave to use the site with .wordpress.com after the name of my blog. My question is….if I decide later that I’d like to pay to have my own web address without ‘.wordpress.com’ do I need to start over?
When I upgrade will that ending be removed or do I have to start with the paid account?
…and if I upgrade again from personal to the next step up how does billing work?

You can go to My Site -> Plans and upgrade to the Premium or Business plans. If you decide to switch to a higher plan later, depending on how close you are to your current plan’s expiration date you should only pay the difference in cost between the two plans.
