Upgrades & Theme Retention

    I want to keep my BOLD LIFE Theme with an upgrade. Will I be allowed to keep my current theme if I upgrade? I like the simplicity and many others of my readers have commented that they like it, also. It would be really great if WP would reinstate it. I may decide not to upgrade if I cannot retain my theme.

    Hi there,

    Upgrading to a paid plan just unlocks the extra features included in the plan. It doesn’t change your site’s content, settings or theme in any way.

    That said Bold Life was retired in March 2016, so it hasn’t received any updates since then, and if it breaks or develops a bug, it won’t be fixed.

    Both the WordPress software and the coding languages themes are created in are constantly evolving, and all themes eventually reach a point where it’s just no longer feasible to continue maintaining the theme without completely rewriting it from scratch. At that point a theme gets retired, as was the case with Bold Life. So there aren’t any plans to reinstate this theme again.

    You’re welcome to continue using the theme for as long as it still works. But just be aware that it won’t continue working indefinitely, and there will eventually come a point where you’ll have to switch to a more current theme if you want your site to continue working.

    Hi, Kokkieh. Thank you for your input. It is extremely helpful; and now I understand the mechanics behind theme software. I will explore other themes and put my fears to rest.👍
