Hi there, Your upgraded URL would not include the “wordpress.com” part as in -mysite.wordpress.com would become mysite.com or whatever domain you choose.
However, you will still not be able to use Google Adsense on your upgraded site.
Advertisements from third-party ad networks like Google AdSense, OpenX, Lijit, BuySellAds, and Vibrant Media are not allowed on WordPress.com. If you’d like to run these types of ads on your blog, you may wish to try a self-hosted WordPress installation.
Here’s everything you need to know about monetizing your WordPressdotcom site: https://en.support.wordpress.com/monetize-your-site/

Hi there,
After upgrading to a paid plan, you can register your own custom domain. And also, you can map your existing domain to your site too.
But it doesn’t mean that the URL of your site automatically changes once you upgrade. You can choose either to use a custom domain or to keep using a free domain(like “xyz.wordpress.com”) as the primary domain.
The following support page should help you to understand more about domain on WordPress.com.

@justjenifer
Suppose i upgraded to 2..99 $ per month plan, then i will have my own custom domain, but i could not monetize it?not even wordadds or google adsence?and second question suppose i buy a custom domain from any other provider then i could get that for 14 $ for two years.
Then whats would be the difference in both scenario. Please focus your answer on monetizing as that is my main focus. -
Hello again @piyush96arora, have you had a chance to read the “Monetize Your Site” support guide I linked to earlier? It mentions that Google’s advertising programs are not allowed here and what types of advertising you can do to monetize your WordPressdotcom site within the Terms of Service here.
WordAds, which is WordPressdotcom’s advertising program, is available. If you upgrade to a Premium or Business plan account, and add a custom domain name, your Public site will automatically be included in the program. However, if you upgrade to a Personal account (US$36/year) you can apply to be included in the program, but your site will need to have thousands of views each month to qualify. You can learn more about WordAds at this link https://wordads.co/
Just to be clear, in order to use a domain you buy from another domain registrar on your WordPressdotcom site, you will also need a WordPressdotcom upgrade plan. All upgrade plans include either registering a new domain or mapping a domain you already own.
If the primary focus of your site is monetization, you will want to consider hosting your own install of the WP (org) software. More on that here: https://get.wp.com/
All the best.

@justjenifer , sorry for bothering u again, now I am understanding something,
Suppose, use bluehost for hosting, and even buys domain from bluehost then I will be having my hosting,
then I would install wordpress to my bluehost account, and load my wordpress blog there,
now ques is that how will my new domain(from blue host) will be linked to my wordpress blog, tell me will it be free now(as I already paid for hosting and domain) or I still have to pay for this feature.
Second ques suppose all this setup on bluehost is successful , will I be able to show wordadds or.google adds on my site, or still it needs to have thousands of views?
Thanks for all the privious answers, plz answer this one also. -
If you choose to buy your domain and host your WP (org) site with BlueHost or any other web hosting provider, you do not need to maintain any kind of website or upgrade plan on WordPressdotcom.
Whatever the terms for advertising are on your self-hosted site is up to your web host’s terms of service and your advertising provider. I have no knowledge of how that works today as I have not had a self-hosted site since moving to WordPressdotcom over 10 years ago.
If you have any further questions about how a self-hosted WP (org) site works, you can ask in the forums for self-hosted sites. https://wordpress.org/support If you don’t have a username there, you can register one on that page. You can also query the support forums for whatever web hosting provider you think to join.
Good luck and best wishes.
