Upgrading.

    Hello,

    I am new to this so please excuse my inexperienced attitude! I am currently using a free version of WordPress, however, i would like the wordpress.com eventually removed from the URL which means upgrading my free account….Right? If this is correct, when i upgrade, do i get to keep the current domain name i have, but it will just simply remove the wordpress.com, or will i lose everything on the website and have to start over with a new domain and new content?

    Hi, @conceptualisingthesocial,

    Yes, you will want to upgrade your free account for a custom domain(url without the wordpress.com).

    When you upgrade and choose your new domain, nothing with change with your site, except that you new domain will automatically map over to your current one. You can actually access the site using either url at that point. Same content. You will not need to start over, thank goodness. :)
