Upgrading

Hi,
I already have a popular blog but would like to start a website. Should I upgrade my blog into a website or start a fresh website? I would like to sell documents and powerpoints (around 200) that can be sent electronically and create a subscription section for viewers to access videos. Is this possible and which plan would be best suited to this? Also I am confused about hosts, is WordPress a host or do I need to go with someone else as well?Sorry for all the questions, any help is most appreciated! :)

Is your log related to the content that you will be selling? If so, you can add your blog to the website you’re creating. Or, it just may be easier to add a link too your site from your blog via a menu tab and vice versa. If the site and blog are not related, I would definitely keep them separate.
Is this possible and which plan would be best suited to this?
It is possible – I would recommend the Business Plan that allows you extra customization to your site or the eCommerce plan that is designed for users who want to build out a store to sell products.
Also I am confused about hosts, is WordPress a host or do I need to go with someone else as well?
So, if you are going to use WordPress.com, your site will be hosted on WordPress.com. That is different than having a self-hosted WordPress.org site at a different host such as Go Daddy or Bluehost.
