Upgrading

I am looking to upgrade, but would like more detail on 2 items: Paid Subscribers and Add paid subscriptions and gated content.

I have subscribers and content that I manage manually, I have reached out to Jet Pack and awaiting their reply. I have searched and am not finding any information on what this includes and how it works to know if I can make it work for me.

I need this information to decide which plan is right for me.

    WP.com: Yes
    Jetpack: No
    Correct account: Yes

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I thought I was actually messaging the people at WP, not a forum. Thank you in advance to anyone that has information and/or experience with subscriptions.

  • Hi there, we’re happy to take a closer look. I don’t see any Jetpack sites connected to your @heathergladden account, can you share the URL so we can take a closer look? Are you trying to move an exact copy of the site with zero changes? Or are you instead looking at this as an opportunity to start with a new site design?

On our end we have a few options for providing subscriptions and gated content. If you are looking for something simple, you can use our build in option for monetizing content by using our Premium Content Block:

    5 min read
Use the Premium Content block to accept one-time, monthly, or annual payments on your website for access to exclusive content that you create – video, images, text, or anything at all. Engage your audience with exclusive content while earning money to support your website. This feature is available for all sites with a WordPress.com paid plan. Overview The Premium Content block allows

This block is essentially a container into which you can add any content (even an entire blog post) and only paid subscribers will be able to read it. For anyone without a subscription they will see a message and button allowing them to subscribe to proceed.

This block can’t be added to free sites, but is an option you can unlock by upgrading to any of our plans using the link below:

If you upgrade to the Business or Commerce plan you also have the option to instead use a 3rd party solution like any of the ones listed here: https://wordpress.com/plugins/?s=memberships

Hope that helps. Please let us know if you have any more questions.

Thank you for your reply. The site is a free one now – tangleaddicts.wordpress.com

The link helped. If I upgrade, and then realize that I need to upgrade further before the subscription is up, can I do that? I think I read somewhere that I can. I was planning to do the annual billing. As long as I can and not lose any $$, that’s great!

    Thanks!

  • Hi there,

Absolutely, you can upgrade your plan at any time. If you decide that you need additional features and wish to move to a higher plan, you can certainly do so, and you won’t lose any money in the process.

When you decide to upgrade before your current subscription is up, you’ll only be charged for the difference between your current plan and the new one. This is calculated based on how much time is left on your current plan. So, you’re not paying the full price of the upgraded plan but rather just the difference for the remaining time in your subscription period.

Let me know if you have any other questions, and I’ll be happy to help.
