Upgrading
-
Hello–
I am wanting to upgrade to a premium theme. I’m a bit confused, however, because the upgrade to premium looks like it’s $99/year. However, when I’m browsing through the premium themes all of them state a price as well-for example, “upgrade to this theme for $79”.
Wondering if you can upgrade to premium for $99/year and that includes domain name, premium theme, etc. and then the $79 (or whatever that specific theme may be) cost is for upgrading the theme only and the domain name would be separate?
I was just confused at the disparity and wondering what the actual costs would be.
Thanks for any assistance anyone can provide!

You do not need to purchase a premium bundle of upgrades. More to the point is that the premium bundle does not include any premium themes. Only the business bundle does. Otherwise premium themes are individual purchases that are one time purchase for the life of the blog while hosted at wordpress.COM. The relevant support doc is at https://en.support.wordpress.com/premium-themes/

No. WordPress.com provides free blogs and hosts them free of charge. There are no bandwidth charges. All WordPress.com blogs come with 3000 megabytes (~3 GBs) of space for storing uploaded files and images. Free features are listed here https://en.wordpress.com/features/
See here for details of all 3 plans http://store.wordpress.com/bundles/ offered by WordPress.com.

There are no premium themes included in the premium upgrade bundle. http://store.wordpress.com/plans/premium/ And every premium theme is individually priced.

Ok, thanks so much for clearing that up! So essentially really the only reason to upgrade to the premium bundles would be if I was running out of space, to get rid of ads, and get support, but I would still have to purchase the premium theme separately. If all I was interesting in was having the premium theme and a domain name I could just purchase that separately without having to upgrade to a premium plan. Is that correct? Just want to make sure I’m understanding! Thanks so much!

Yes, you can purchase both domain mapping (includes a domain name and the upgrade requires annually upgrading) and a premium theme individually.
