Upgrading a Plan without a WP website
-
Hello.
Wordpress is doing my head in!! Nothing seems to be straight forward and information overload is a nightmare!
I’m trying to upgrade to Plan ‘Personal’ but everything I try wants me to have a website!!
I don’t want a website as I already have one. I just want a blog that doesn’t force advertising on me, hence the reason to upgrade to ‘Personal’. If it’s possible that someone could show me the steps to getting to ‘Personal’ without a WP website becoming involved and without me losing my existing structure I would be extremely happy.
Many thanks in anticipation. Dot :-)The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

As long as you are logged in to the site you wish to upgrade (https://dotsworkbox.wordpress.com/ ?) then just clicking on “My Site” and “Plans” gets you to the page where you can upgrade the site.

Hello themagicrobot.
Thanks for your reply, it was much appreciated. My wife does the simple stuff for the non-Wordpress website and leaves me to battle with WordPress!! I have to say that it’s excellent for blog authoring but I HATE the fussiness and complexity of it. I only battle with it because it does seem to be the best blog authoring package around.
I followed your instructions for finding the Plan section (easy when you know what to do :) ) I only wanted the Personal plan so that I could get rid of the advertising. When I got there, the Personal plan had vanished, only the three higher priced Plans remained. Am I still doing things wrong??
Thanks again for your assistance. It’s so nice to work with folk who know what they are doing!!
Kind regards. Les -
Hi Les –
Sorry about the trouble. I’m not sure why the personal option is not appearing for you.
Head on over to https://wordpress.com/pricing/ for a look at the plans, features, and their annual costs.
You can add the personal plan directly from that page.
If it doesn’t work, come back and let me know. I will add the plan from my end and email you a payment link in that case.

Hello lizkarkoski-
Thank you so much for your reply. I had a feeling you might be staff, everything looked efficient.
Before I get too involved, do I have to be logged in to my account? I launched the link you kindly provided but it seems to be working as though I’m setting up a new blog.Sorry to be a pain. I’m sure WP has it in for me. ha ha!!
Kind regards. Les W

Let’s try something different. Again, log into your account, go to My Site>Plan and when you see the list of plans, notice that on top there’s a button that says Blogs and Personal Sites. It’ll look like this:
Once you’ve clicked there, you’ll see the Personal plan option and you’ll be able to upgrade.
I hope that helps :)

Hello,
I think I might give this a break for now as it’s holding my work up :(
I followed your instructions and arrived at the Plan section. I clicked the Blogs and Personal Sites and was taken to a string of a blog inc, ours? I have been this route before.
I clicked https://cld.wthms.co/VuXS99 and it took me to a set of three plans, but alas, not the personal :(
What is a little mysterious is that I have pulled up a page earlier that had all 4 plans on. Unfortunately it was only interested in me building a web site.
Never mind. I need to get some work done otherwise I’ll have my good lady on my case :)
When the pressure is off, I’ll annoy you again if that’s okay. Many thanks for your time, I do appreciate it. :) :)
Kind regards. Les W

Good Morning Les –
I’ve added the Personal Plan to dotsworkbox.wordpress.com. If you visit https://wordpress.com/me/purchases/ it should show there. Also visible by clicking on My Sites – Plans
Write back to confirm that you can see it on the account.

lizkarkoski, you’re a star!!
Thanks very much for that assistance. I’m not the brightest star in the IT world but I usually get by. Goodness knows what the problems were.
Once again — many thanks for your help along with others who have ‘called by’
Kind regards. Dot says ‘Thank you’ also :)
