Upgrading and Transferring a Domain

    HI. I want to upgrade to a Personal plan and transfer a domain name from GoDaddy so that I can use my own domain. Can you please clarify how much this will cost in total as there seems to be a suggestion of a £15 charge for transferring whereas I was expecting that to be free within the Personal Plan upgrade. The domain is active and has a year to go on it so I don’t want to pay for that year again. Thanks Steve.

    Hi Steve,

    When you buy a paid plan, the plan includes one free domain registration or domain transfer. As part of the transfer process your domain will also be renewed for an additional year, but future renewals will be an additional cost on top of the plan. So initially you’ll only pay the cost of the plan you choose.

    A domain transfer itself will only cost something if you transfer the domain without buying a plan first, but then you won’t be able to set the transferred domain as the primary domain on your site, or else if you want to transfer in additional domains after you’d already used your free domain included in the plan.
