  Hello,
  I read in one article there are Engineers who can help upgrade the blog. My question is I would like to upgrade my blog to a Premium plan with the ability to monetize it. I have also read I need to obtain a separate hosting site. . My goal is to keep the followers I have and content. I appreciate the feedback on the process

  You can upgrade to Premium plan here https://wordpress.com/plans

  Both Premium and Business plans provide you the feature of monetizing your site. Follow this link on how to monetize your site:
  https://en.support.wordpress.com/monetize-your-site/

  I have also read I need to obtain a separate hosting site.

  As far as I know, you don’t need any other hosting.
  Also, your subscribers and content will be intact.

  Hi there,

  You can monetize your site even on the free plan. You don’t need an upgrade for that. An upgrade is only required if you specifically want to monetize via participating in our WordAds program.

  You can see the document linked above for the different options that are available on WordPress.com. The options here are limited, both due to policy and security reasons. If you were to migrate to a self-hosted installation instead you won’t have those restrictions, but again having a self-hosted site is not a requirement for making money from your blog.
