Upgrading domain

  I am planning to upgrade my current free domain. to something like http://www.example.com
  I want to know, after the upgradation, would it be possible for me to ask my visitors for an account creation on my website. The registered users would then get added advantage of viewing some special posts. The users which don’t register themselves could view my posts except a few protected posts.

  wordpress.COM and wordpress.ORG are completely separate. If you intend to hire a web host and self host a free download of wordpress.ORG software from wordpress.ORG then you need to know what the differences are and post your questions to the correct support forums. Please read these two entries:

  thnx, I have learnt the limitation of wordpress.com and hassles with .org !

  For wordpress.COM, you would have to password protect posts and pages that you did not want the general public to view.

  To have a posts and pages restricted to registered users you will have to go self-hosted and then use one of the membership plugins such as memberaccess.

  Do note that memberaccess has issues (I have no idea if they have ever updated it to fix the issues of it not working). If they have not, you will have to research and find another one that will work.
